The Situation
Bride and Groom Corporation is one of the world’s largest post-production companies serving a global client base of wedding videographers and photographers. The company was founded and led by Serge, a highly capable and business savvy, non-U.S. entrepreneur from Ukraine.
When the war in Ukraine began, Serge and his family relocated across several countries before eventually settling in Panama. Throughout this period, he continued leading the business, supporting his team, and serving clients while adapting to an entirely new personal and business environment.
Bride and Groom was already a seven-figure, fast-growing business and serge was using Xero and managing bookkeeping internally with his team.
These moves created a highly complex international tax and compliance landscape. With changing tax residency, a U.S. corporation, global operations, and multiple reporting obligations, Serge needed trusted guidance to navigate cross-border financial decisions while keeping his business stable and compliant.
The Journey
Our engagement began as Serge navigated the personal and business challenges of relocating across multiple countries. What started as tax return support quickly evolved into strategic tax advisory, as we worked together to evaluate tax residency scenarios, treaty implications, and different relocation outcomes. By aligning his personal tax position with his U.S. corporation, we helped him make informed decisions during a period when small mistakes could have created significant long-term tax exposure.
As we prepared the company’s tax filings, we identified several issues within the existing financial records, including inconsistent classifications and compliance risks that could affect both reporting accuracy and tax obligations. We expanded our role by taking over the company’s Xero accounting environment, correcting historical bookkeeping, implementing stronger accounting controls, and establishing a more reliable financial foundation for future growth.
As the business continued to scale, with new revenue channels, new business models, and increased complexity, Serge realized something important:
“In-house bookkeeping may look cost-effective, but it often creates more risk, more compliance issues, and less visibility.”
He made a strategic decision to hand over the entire bookkeeping and financial reporting process to Tukel Accounting. We provided senior-level oversight, compliance reviews, and controllership to ensure every financial decision was supported by accurate, decision-ready information – not basic bookkeeping.
Later, we shifted our focus toward forward-looking financial advisory. Together, we evaluated cash flow projections, investment opportunities, and ROI scenarios for marketing and team expansion, helping Serge allocate capital with confidence while maintaining profitability and runway.
Over time, our conversations expanded beyond finance into broader discussions around business models, technology, and scaling strategies, best practices observed across other global founders and this two-way exchange of experience further strengthened decision-making on both sides.
